ARKIB 6 MAC 2010

MUAR: It was a heart-wrenching scene as a woman repeatedly called out to her fiance to wake up and desperately tried to revive him after he died in an accident near Bukit Pasir here.

The sobbing woman did not give up until a medical officer gently asked her to let go of Mohammed Sabri, 30.

Mohammed Sabri, from the Muar Health Department, was returning from duty at the Nasuha National Service Camp near Pagoh, when his car crashed into a truck parked on the road shoulder in the 3.40pm accident yesterday.

The medical assistant was driving alone in his Proton Wira which is believed to have skidded to the right and crashed into the truck near Kampung Paya Panjang.

Sudden loss: Nurul Shafika crying over Mohammed Sabri’s body Friday.

His fiancee, Nurul Shafika Abdul Kadir, a 25-year-old pharmaceutical assistant at a government clinic in Bukit Pasir, rushed to the scene 1km away after her friends told her about the accident.

Mohammed Sabri, from Kampar, Perak, was pinned inside the wrecked car.

According to a Health Department employee, Mohammed Sabri and Nurul Shafika got engaged recently and planned to get married in October.
